board of education is sparking a fire storm affecting every florida school. this week officials released a plan setting different expectations for students of different races. for example, the plan calls for 90% of asian students to be at or above grade level reading in 2018 compared to 74% of black students. similar standards apply to math. the school board aims to improve performance of k through 12 students. parents worry the students won't be held in the same standards like they were in the real world. welcome to you. i also want to note that the state's education commissioner agreed to come on but declined late yesterday saying she had a prior commitment. so do you think the plan is racist. >> i don't know if i would call the plan racist. we need to call hout the board of education for making a concession that really just reinscribes our perceptions about race from the past the problem with this particular set of bempbl marks is it mixes concession that essentially some groups will not perform as others when they really need a cohesive statewide benchmark that cuts across race and d

for about twenty years i decided that i need to further my education. my masters degree was done completely online and that gave me the freedom and ability to do my education while i raised my kids and worked full time. raising my kids as a single mom and having them see me get my education online and work full-time has given them the opportunity to see that they can do anything that they want to. i'm currently the hospital administrator for two public hospitals. we serve patients who might not otherwise get care. i teach an online nursing program. i feel that i'm giving back something to the nurses that are attempting to get their bachelors degree like i did. doing online education is something that i suggest to many, many people. to get out of playing this game? it's fun and a little educational. what is the point? >> really educational, right? it's really fun. no. the truth is i want people to focus on the economic issues. it's all about the debates. the country does face a lot of really serious fiscal issues. if not immediately, although we have created this artificial crisis in the fiscal cliff. it's really boring. people don't want to necessarily focus on how to make entitlement spending work. what do i care about 30 years if i'm 50? maybe it doesn't matter. so the economic team is really important to fixing this. and it's my view basically whoever wins, whether it's obama or romney, is basically going to have one big docier flopped in their lap. it's either we've gone over the fiscal cliff and have you to deal with it in reverse, or we've kicked the can down the road and done a patch that gets us to july 4th to be patriotic and we have another physical cliff to not go over. to do that you have to reach across the aisle and work with democrats and republicans to get something done. so that, to me, is
